Senior members of Al-Burhan Group attended a dinner on the 19th November, hosted by the British Iraqi Friendship Society at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington in West London. The evening was organised as part of the BIFS aim of promoting British – Iraqi community and trade relations. Attending were several renowned international companies and public bodies actively involved in the Iraqi market and society. The dinner was proudly sponsored by Al-Burhan Group, RPS Energy and Crescent Petroleum to name a few.
The British Iraqi Friendship Society (BIFS) was created to inform the British public about all aspects of Iraqi life and culture, including its history, heritage, art, performing arts, language and traditions. As part of this objective the BIFS organises events throughout the year to encourage and foster relations between the two nations. It is an occasion for like-minded individuals and businesses to hold an informal dialogue helping shape the future of British – Iraqi relations as well as explore potential business opportunities.
Several major Oil & Gas companies were in attendance; including RPS Energy, Crescent Petroleum and BP. The presence of a significant number of energy companies illustrated the growing prominence of Iraq’s Oil & Gas sector to international firms. Iraq is destined to become a major oil producing nation in the coming years, due to its vast and mostly unexplored natural reserves. As part of its business operations; Al-Burhan Group works to drive capital and technology into Iraq to support the energy industry. The BIFS Gala Dinner facilitated such a discourse and helped key players develop their understanding of the Iraqi market.

Al-Burhan Group was one of the main event sponsors of the evening; a special prospectus was produced with the specific aim of promoting its business operations and past performance history. The brochure and enclosed electronic-business card allowed interested parties to learn about the Group and discover potential areas of collaboration, particularly in the Iraqi energy sector. The marketing of Al-Burhan Group is part of a wider business strategy to help build the Al-Burhan Group name into a widely recognised and respected brand, both in Iraq and Britain.
The main speaker at the evening was the Conservative MP Nadhim Zahawi who addressed guests with a speech about the importance of strong diplomatic relations between Britain and Iraq; as well the tremendous mutual opportunities that await both nations in terms of culture, society and economy. The evening also included a charity auction which had several exclusive items and events available for willing bidders. Overall the evening was a resounding success, attended by many high profile guests, showing the ever-growing prominence of Iraqi affairs in Britain.
Such events are important points in business calendars as they allow clients and customers alike to meet in a relaxed environment to consider their shared future. The eminent Royal Garden Hotel, located in the heart of Kensington, proved to be an illustrious location for the evening and undoubtedly contributed to the blossoming friendship between Britain and Iraq.
