Participation in the investment conference in London (29 – 30 April 2009)

The first investment conference in the UK which brought together the government of Iraq represented by the ‘Iraqi National Investment Commission’ (NIC) with the support of the UK dept of International Development and the Middle East Association, was held at the landmark hotel in London between 30th April and 1st May 2009.

A high level delegation of Iraqi ministers and senior officials lead by Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih graced the occasion bringing with them various ideas and notions to better the investment opportunities in Iraq. Key business leaders from the UK were able to exchange views with Iraqi ministers and better understand the favourable openings that presented its self in Iraq.

Al-Burhan Group participated in this conference in order to discuss and understand the law No. 13 for the year 2006 and discuss along side with its partners Deutsche Land and Apsleys the investment opportunities of Basra Business center , Airport hotel.

ABG believes that these two projects that are currently in the pipeline would open up a whole new chapter in intergovernmental projects that usher a new era in investment in Iraq.

Over a 400 of the top UK & other international companies were brought together to interact with Iraqi ministers in order to promote investment & trade in Iraq by providing information about the key sectors for foreign direct investment. One on one discussions with key Iraqi stakeholders enable foreign investors to target potential investment opportunities in Iraq, amid the recent positive changes in Iraq.

With a market of 28 million people, considerable wealth, abundant natural resources and decades of under investment, Iraq provides huge potential for international trade and investment.
