GBS Italy established since 1926, the year of its foundation, has been dealing with the manufacturing of machinery, equipment and complete plants for the milling industry, from the wheat silo to the sacking- off of finished products.
The experience matured for over 70 years of activity always in the same field has enabled us to acquire a high specialisation not only in the manufacturing of single machines, but also in the realisation of complete milling plants for the grinding of:
- soft and hard wheat to produce bread flour;
- rye and barley;
- durum wheat to produce semolina for pasta and macaroni factory;
- maize to produce all the products obtainable from maize processing, such as: flour, grits for brewery, cracked maize, flakes for animal meal, per-cooked and gelatinised flour with a correct use of the tree basic technologies (dry, moist and steam determination).
300 people are employed in our factory in Padova (workers and employees). GBS manufacture machines and single parts as well as ancillary and optional equipment. In this way we can guarantee a standard production with a very high technological level.
By realising milling plants with different capacities in many countries all over the world we have consequently had the opportunity of serving customers with the most different requirement.
GBS usually realise plants on a turnkey basis, directly offering the electromechanical parts and the erection and commissioning service.
In case of a full complete project on a turnkey basis but comprising buildings, stores, services and other facilities, we operate joint venture with other Italian companies to submit a complete project including the civil works and the electromechanical parts.
Golfetto has accumulated a considerable patrimony of experience in the milling field it has installed more than 1.000 milling plants in the world.
The working atmosphere is highly stimulating for both for the single individuals as well as fro the work teams. The high professional level and skill of Golfetto’s managers and technicians are well known and their reputation in the milling field is widely recognised.
The Golfetto works in Padova have extended during the years and now cover an area of about 23.000 sq. m. areas, three quarters of which are roofed.
The key of our company’s brilliant success lies in the synergy of outstandingly well-qualified and widely experienced milling and design engineers and sale managers, who guarantee and spread out Golfetto’s presence in five continents.
These qualified, dynamical and well-organised staff consisting of about 130 people, three quarters of which university graduates, makes Golfetoo one of the most avenged engineering companies. Golfetto is capable of facing all the problems connected with the industry of cereal grinding and is ready to meet many requirements of the Italian and international customers.
Highest reliability and maximum yields, easy maintenance and running flexibility are our main target when we project and manufacture our new machines and milling plants.

1. Dynamic of the sales
In 1997 Golfetto signed 25 new contracts to supply new milling plants in 17 different countries, for a total of 2.000.000 tons per year.
In 1998 Golfetto singed contracts to supply 26 new plants in 20 countries for a total, annually grinding capacity of 1.750.000 tons.
The analysis of the turnover based on the various geographical areas highlights the particular efforts that the company is making and the successes obtained in the European, North American and Asian markets. There markets require high technological levels. The milling field and the world economy in general are presently undergoing a great development, but owing to the miscellaneous characteristics and geographical distance, the Asian markets require also an advanced development of their products.

2. Dynamic of the Golfetto Engineering, Planning and Production
The past result and the acquisition of a 20% share of the world market are due to the above mentioned reasons.
However, there results have been obtained also thanks to the reorganisation of the production (and we mean both the planning and the production capacity), which has had to adapt itself to the more and more rapid increase of the market requirements.
In brief, the aims have been achieved by means of the following

a. Planning
During the past years the projects of our machine models have been planned again by putting great importance on fundamental characteristics as reliability, performance, flexibility of employment and easy maintenance. To summarise:
- complete reorganisation of the technical planning and methods, that is, replacement of manual planning with completely computerised planning system (SAD);
- double number of skilled engineers employed in our technical departments;
- computerised spare parts management;
- employment of decentralised units abroad in connection with the main computerised planning system.

b. Production
- acquisition of new production facilities;
- acquisition of new production means (machinery, etc.) and technology to improve the production cycles;
- increase of the individual productivity;
- reorganisation of the already existing production units.

c. Engineering
The experience gained by CETEC cereal Technologies, Golfetto’s office in U.S.A. supplying engineering service to American customers has also made it possible to recently acquire another office in Beijing, China.
The office consists of main group of highly skilled, well-trained local milling engineers (who regularly attend update training courses on Italy) working under the responsibility of a senior Italian engineer. The engineer’s main duty is to work on Golfetto’s existing contracts in the P.R.C. Other offices have been opened in Moscow and Kuala Lumpur.

d. After sale assistance
It is very important to be always available with competent personnel in any situation.
We have trained our agents to be ready to give assistance and face any sort of troublesome situation and maintenance problems.
We have trained our agents’ workshop personnel on every mechanical and electrical aspect of our machines and milling plants.
We can intervene with reliable and skilled personnel capable of solving any immediate, specific problem.

e. Spare parts assistance
The main space parts warehouse is located in Padova. However, to satisfy the demand of specific spare parts in the quickest and most efficient way. Golfetto has set up a spare parts store near its agents’ premises.
The quantity of spare parts at their disposal is calculated according to the number of the existing milling plants and to the material availability. Golfetto immediately replaces the sold articles with new pieces. In this way the operations of purchase/sale/despatch are simplified and the delivery time is considerably reduced.

f. Quality control
We continually check the quality standard of our main suppliers to always with the ISO 9001 certification. Nevertheless, to further guarantee our quality, the final assembling and testing are always made by us.

g. Erection and Commissioning
Golfetto relies on a considerable number of Italian erection teams working in contact with the company. We can ensure a very quick erection service with a minimum shutdown time in case of remodelling or extension of existing milling plants.
The erection sites working from the beginning of this year are located in China, U.S.A., Malaysia, Italy, Algeria, Tunisia, Cameroon, Egypt, U.A.E., Germany etc.; 16 milling plants in total.

h. Engineering resources and Locations
Golfetto’s engineering resources include many specialised groups, within and outside the company, covering mechanical, electrical and mill engineering.

i. Environment
Golfetto place great attention on pollution and environmental problems. For this reason the machinery are manufactured not only complying with the strictest safety standards, but also in a way as to reduce, or, better, to eliminate their impact with the external surroundings.
This concept has been particularly applied to the construction of the filters. Thanks to the perfect filtering system, the air generated by the production process is exhausted to the outside free of impurities.
That is why the Golfetto milling plants can be installed in inhabited areas or in their neighbourhoods because there is no risk of dust pollution. One has also reduced to the minimum the problems created by noise pollution by using adequate insulating materials.
The company engineering is divided into three activity areas:
- machine planning, operating manuals and spare parts;
- milling flow sheets: design and development;
- milling projects and layouts: plants contracting and engineering
Besides the above expanded engineering and technical departments, Golfetto also utilises the service of various outside engineering sources. In the North American project Golfetto attempts to use as many stateside services as possible, with particular regard to accessories to facilitate easy code compliance and the compatibility of the replacement parts. Our CETEC office (Millersville, Maryland) also provides engineering service, final plant layouts, accessories, component specifications and purchase service.
Planning is generally developed along the following two lines:
- Golfetto head is responsible of the project drawing, of the general layouts and flow diagrams and finally of the engineering calculations:
- Golfetto’s outer offices study the building requirements and the step-by-step details of the installation.
This solution has always produced first-class results, enabling the Golfetto company to significantly increase the number of milling plants and, what is still more important, to gain deeper knowledge of the regulations of the countries outside Europe.
