  7. Consider the Iraqi network as a apart of the international power grid through the interconnection agreement among the seven countries.

  1. The required investment is estimated to be $16 Billion US Dollars from the period 2007 – 2010 according to the National Development Strategy issued by the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation and these estimates include government and private investments.
  2. Rehabilitation of the existing power plants to produce electric power to their existing access design capacity. This will have a low cost effectiveness as well as short time for implementation.
  3. Establishment of new production plants (Thermal & Gas) according to the central plan to cover the entire requirement of electricity power till 2012.
  4. The MoE’s plan includes the establishment of Gas Turbine projects units as
    follows :
    • 60 Units 125 MW each (GE)
    • 4 units 40 MW each (GE)
    • 6 units 260 MW each (SIEMENS)
    • 10 units 160 MW each (SIEMENS)
